Random Association

In today class,we has given a task to create one scary image that can scare children and other peoples.I need to change the cat image to something scarier than that.As the result,I created this another form of cat image to more scarier and creepy looks :-

-Metaphor- Is a figure of speech in which 2 different things are linked by some similarity.
Comparison that are obvious are not consider metaphors. Therefore, metaphors occur, when 2 different ideas are being connected in imaginative ways and agreed to be dissimilar at first.

Example: Life is a box of chocolate,you will never know what you will get!

Example: Life is like cooking.It all depends on what you add and how you mix it. Sometimes you follow the recipe and at other times, you’re creative.

Categories of Analogies :-

*LOGICAL ANALOGIES
Logical analogies are analogies, which use similarities in the design, structure or function of to connect back to the subject. For example a duck can be compared to a hovercraft because of the fact that both of them can move on the surface of land and water. *AFFECTIVE ANALOGIES
Affective analogies are the emotional resemblance. The clearest example is the use of an animal to explain a certain characteristic of a person. This type of analogy is used most frequently in conversation to emphasis certain points. For example, he is like a pig (because he is lazy), she is like an ant (because she is hard working), he is like an owl (because he is wise), etc. This type of analogies uses the intrinsic values of the object as a comparison.

Life is like lime that you can taste many flavours while eating it.Once you taste the sweetness from it can make you feel happy while sour taste from it may make you feel hurt that can be same meaning to your life everyday which contain happiness and sadness that can't be destroy after once you go through it.

MAN or WOMAN

Man or woman is like ant that they always need each others.Neither of them can live without helping each others to pass each of the test in this life as it already shown by nature that they always need each others.

Juxtaposition


Juxtaposition


*Can be defined as placing two variable, side by side and their contrast or similarity are shown through comparison. Many creative processes rely on juxtaposition. By juxtaposing two objects or words next to each other, human brain will automatically associate or transfer meaning. Usually ‘turning’ something familiar to something less familiar or vice-versa.

*The arrangement of two or more ideas, characters, actions, settings, phrases, or words side-by-side or in similar narrative moments for the purpose of comparison, contrast, rhetorical effect, suspense, or character development.

*Juxtaposition (literary), synonymous with contrast, two objects or texts that oppose one another


*Random juxtaposition, two random objects moving in parallel, a technique intended to stimulate creativity

Lucky/Unlucky - Hurley and Walt play backgammon, where Walt is lucky to get the rolls he wanted each time and Hurley is unlucky, getting rolls that caused him to lose. ("All the Best Cowboys Have Daddy Issues")


Help/Hindrance - Charlie's bid to save Claire from Ethan ended up hindering the survivors as it prevented them from getting their answers. ("Homecoming")


Anger/Brokenness - In flashback, Locke is shown very angry and hitting his car. The scene switches to Locke in the jungle, kneeling and crying at the Hatch, seemingly broken. This is a juxtaposition of anger and sadness. ("Deus Ex Machina")


Brokeness/Hope - Directly after the moment described above, a light comes on in the Hatch, reinvigorating Locke's hopes and faith in the Island (and his destiny).


Life/Death - Boone dies at the same time Claire gives birth to Aaron, showing a juxtaposition of life and death with a strong contrast between the two. ("Do No Harm")


This are some exercise that was given to us.We need to make sentence and draw how the image looks like from what we already chosen the number from this words down here that already given by the lecturers in class :-

Convergent and Divergent thinking, Logical Mindmap, Stereoptypes.



*Convergent thinking :-
 is a term coined by Joy Paul Guilford as the opposite of divergent thinking. It generally means the ability to give the correct answer to standard questions that do not require significant creativity, for instance in most tasks in school and on standardized multiple-choice tests for intelligence. 

*Divergent thinking :-
is a thought process or method used to generate creative ideas by exploring many possible solutions. 

Mind Mapping

Mind mapping, introduced by Tony Buzan is a great tool for idea generation and brainstorming. It enhance both sides of the human brain and widely used in taking notes, research or generating new ideas. A creative Mind Map is able to stimulate and create interest to the individual and also to the viewer. 


Method Creative Thinking; Logical and Associated mind map Technique

*Logical Mind Map
The Logical Mind Map is directly connected to stereotypes. The Logical mind map comprises of solely stereotype words. Which means that every word or image that is put within the mind map is directly related to the central subject through its links. 

*Associated Mind Map 
Using an associated mind map we are able to generate random words and also show the links between words that seemingly have no connection.

Before beginning a Logical mind map we have to understand what a Stereotype is; below is the definition of the word.

DEFINITIONS OF STEREOTYPE

-A conventional, formulaic, and oversimplified conception, opinion, or image. 
One that is regarded as embodying or conforming to a set image or type. 

-A stereotype is a commonly held public belief about specific social groups or types of individuals. The concepts of "stereotype" and "prejudice" are often confused with many other different meanings. Stereotypes are standardized and simplified conceptions of groups based on some prior assumptions. Generally speaking, stereotypes are not based on objective truth but rather subjective and sometimes unverifiable content-matter. 

The Rules Of Logical Mindmapping

-Always have your SUBJECT in the center of the page.
-Try to make the subject more dominant than the rest of the words and images in the mind map.
-Decide on the main categories of the subject before executing on mind map.
-Try to have the different categories in different colors, to make it easier to identify. 
-Try to use drawings or images to make your mind map more interesting and personal. 
-The ideal mind map should be shaped like the roots of a tree, branching out from a center. 
-It is OK to repeat words or even interlink certain words.
-Try to make your mind map neat and easily legible. REMEMBER one of the aims of the mind map is to create interest and to be able to access information easily.

Benefit of Logical Mind-Mapping Technique

• It is a concise way of listing and categorizing a mass of information.
• The relationship between each word will help trigger memories and greatly reduce the amount of note taking and assist in the understanding of the subject. 
• The more interesting the mind map the greater the interest that the on looker will have in the information.
• The usage of images along side with word will again create interest for the mind map as well as assist in triggering a memory of the  subject.

















Mortar and Pestle


A mortar and pestle is a tool used to crush, grind, and mix substances. The pestle is a heavy bat shaped stick whose end is used for pounding and grinding, and the mortar is a bowl, typically made of hard wood, marble, clay, or stone. The substance is ground between the pestle and the mortar. 


The English "mortar" derives from classical Latin "mortarium", meaning, among several other usages, "receptacle for pounding" and "product of grinding or pounding". The classical Latin "pestillum" led to the English "pestle", meaning "pounder". The antiquity of these tools is well documented in some early literature, such as the Egyptian Ebers Papyrus of c. 1550 B.C.E. 

Mortars and pestles were traditionally used in pharmacies to crush various ingredients prior to preparing an extemporaneous prescription. The mortar and pestle, along with the Caduceus, the Green Cross, and others, is one of the most pervasive symbols of pharmacology due to its classical use in medicine. For pharmaceutical use, the mortar and the head of the pestle are usually made of porcelain, while the handle of the pestle is made of wood. This is known as a Wedgwood mortar and pestle and originated in 1779. 


Food preparation

Mortars are also used in cooking to prepare ingredients such as guacamole and pesto (which derives its name from the pestle pounding), as well as grinding spices into powder. Native American tribes used mortars carved into the bedrock to grind acorns and other nuts. Many such depressions can be found in their former territories. In Japan, very large mortars are used with wooden mallets to prepare mochi. A regular sized Japanese mortar and pestle are called a suribachi and surikogi, respectively. Granite mortars and pestles are used in Southeast Asia, as well as Pakistan and India. In India, its used extensively to make spice mixtures for various delicacies as well as day to day dishes. Due to the ease of motorized grinders, these manual mortar's are used less often. Its traditional in various Hindu ceremonies (like wedding,upanayanam, etc) to crush Turmeric in these mortars. This is widely practiced in all sections of society in todays (2009) India. In Malay, it is known as lesung. Traditional Mexican mortar and pestles, made of basalt, are known as molcajetes. Large stone mortars, with long (2-3 feet) wood pestles were also used in the Middle East to grind meat for a type of meatloaf, or kibbeh, as well as the hummus variety known as masabcha.



Material
Good pestle and mortar-making materials must be hard enough to crush the substance rather than be worn away by it. They cannot be too brittle either, or they will break during the pounding and grinding. The material should also be cohesive, so that small bits of the mortar or pestle do not get mixed in with the ingredients. Smooth and non-porous materials are chosen that will not absorb or trap the substances being ground. In food preparation, a rough or absorbent material may cause the strong flavor of a past ingredient to be tasted in food prepared later. Also, the food particles left in the mortar and on the pestle may support the growth of microorganisms. When dealing with medications, the previous prepared drugs may interact or mix, contaminating the currently used ingredients.

Rough ceramic mortar and pestle sets can be used to reduce substances to very fine powders, but stain easily and are brittle. Porcelain mortars are sometimes conditioned for use by grinding some sand to give them a rougher surface which helps to reduce the particle size. Glass mortars and pestles are fragile, but stain-resistant and suitable for use with liquids. However, like the porcelain type, they do not grind as finely as the ceramic type. Other materials used include marble, stone, wood (highly absorbent), bamboo, iron, steel, brass, and basalt. Mortar & Pestle sets made from the wood of old grape vines have proved reliable for grinding salt & pepper at the dinner table. Uncooked rice is sometimes ground in mortars to clean them. This process must be repeated until the rice comes out completely white. Some stones, such as molcajete, need to be seasoned first before use. Metal mortars are kept lightly oiled.


In class today,we need to do mind map about mortar and pestle.This are my finishing mind map for mortar and pestle.It take awhile to do it but it was fun because I enjoy doing it and finding words through mortar and pestle.It funny that the last word don't even related to mortar and pestle.This was my experiences while making this mind map :-

Novelty, Creativity, Innovation and Invention

The creative person is one who generates new ideas while the creative process is how these new ideas, solutions, and inventions are produced. It is said that, we are all naturally creative.

AMBIGUITY OF CREATIVITY

-Being creative is seeing the same thing as everybody else but thinking of something different.


-Finding the meaning or precise definition of creativity to some is an impossible task as to them creativity does not have one definite meaning or definition.

-Creativity is the process of generating something new that has value. There are many new ideas and concepts, but some may not have value and hence may not be considered creative. A creation is something original that has value.

-Creativity appears to be utilized in varying degrees by different people with different culture and different background.

-Creativity involves the translation of our unique gifts, talents and vision into an external reality that is new and useful.

-Thinking is a specific skill, which can be learned and this goes far beyond traditional analysis and judgment of creativity.

Defining novelty

-Novelty is the quality of being new. Although it may be said to have an objective dimension (e.g. a new style of art coming into being, such as abstract art or impressionism) it essentially exists in the subjective perceptions of individuals.

Subjective and Objective novelty

-Subjective novelty is the apperception of something as being new by an individual person or a group of persons.


-Objective novelty is something that is new for all humanity in its development through ages. It is unlikely, however, that even the most knowing and knowledgeable person boldly say that he knows everything that was before and take liberty to judge things from this standpoint.

Originality is not a decisive feature of creative work and Novelty in
creativity is always based on what has been created before.

Creativity
-the generation of new ideas or a new way of doing things.

Defining Innovation

-Innovation is the process of making improvements by introducing
something new, the realization of a creative idea in a social context.

-Innovation is a process by which an idea or invention is translated
into a good or service for which people will pay.


-To be called an innovation, an idea must be replicable at an
economical cost and must satisfy a specific need.

-Innovation is synonymous with risk-taking and firms which introduce revolutionary products or technologies take on the greatest risk because they have to create new markets.

Inventors
those who take existing knowledge and create new ideas.

*There are four types of creativity:-
-Aesthetic Organizers.
-Boundary Pushers — those who take an existing idea and push it a little further.
-Inventors — those who take existing knowledge and create new ideas — the Edisons of this world.
-The rarest group: Boundary Breakers — the Leonardos and the Copernicuses.

~DEFINING CREATIVITY~

What is CREATIVITY all about?(Lesson 1)

Creativity :-
    • Creativity is the ability to think up and design new inventions, produce works of art, solve problems in new ways, or develop an idea based on an original, novel, or unconventional approach.
    • Creativity is the ability to see something in a new way, to see and solve problems no one else may know exists, and to engage in mental and physical experiences that are new, unique, or different. Creativity is a critical aspect of a person's life, starting from inside the womb onward through adulthood.
    • An ability = the ability to imagine or invent something new.
    • An attitude = ability to accept change and newness, a willingness to play with ideas and possibilities, a flexibility of outlook, the habit of enjoying the good, while looking for ways to improve it.
    • A process = work hard and continually to improve ideas and solutions, by making gradual alterations and refinements to their works.

Many peoples arguing to each others that they cannot be creative and how to be creative but for me,everyone in this world can be creative if they want to.
In my opinion,creative is something that you think far from the reality.It mean like imagination beyond your own limit.It can be spontaneous thinking like the way children or young one thinking.Kids always think freely because by them,this world is just a game for them and that why when they
create something,they do it spontaneously and shows great works of creative mind.Creative is anything that you create with your own ideas or concepts that can change it to unique and fantastic result even your ideas is simple but then it is a creative things.
In my opinion also,Creative is something that you create from your own heart which is you put your own feelings and hard work in every single ideas that you want to create.

We can refer to Sir Ken Robinson who is a creative and expert person who talk about "School Kill Creativity".

These are some examples of children drawings which I think is creative even it just a normal and simple drawings but then full of emotions and brilliant ideas :-
